Biography

One of the highlights of The End’s clubbing year in 2007 was hosting The End tent at Lovebox in Victoria Park – Layo & Bushwacka!, Felix da Housecat, Digitalism and more had the tent packed out all afternoon. Once the clock struck ten, we dragged Groove Armada and Felix da Housecat back to The End for a cracking afterparty. After this, plus a series of fantastic one off parties with Groove Armada at the club last year, we decided to barricade Tom Findlay and Andy Cato in the DJ booth until they promised to bring the Good Ship Groove Armada to The End once every two months. And so Bang The Box was born…

A brand new bi-monthly residency for 2008, Bang the Box sees either one or both members of Groove Armada headlining each event. One of dance music’s great success stories, Tom Findlay and Andy Cato burst onto the scene at the end of the nineties with their infectious mix of house, downtempo, big beat and disco. Their fifth studio album ‘Soundboy Rock’ released in Spring 2007, was a much more uptempo affair, pulling in influences from house to hip-hop to reggae, and spawning anthems such as ‘Get Down’ and ‘Love Sweet Sound’. As exciting behind the decks as they are behind the stage, expect to be rooted to the dancefloor all night. Add the Lovebox Allstars into the mix, plus the excellent Digs (DIY), Rachel Barton, and regular guest DJ’s and you’ve got the perfect recipe for an exciting new residency.
