Club Night Profile
Gilles Peterson tells us about the party...
"It’s
been some time since I last threw a party at The End which I consider
to be one of London's most consistent and music-minded clubs. I find
that clubs run by true music heads are a rarity these days, so to
return to what Marky and Laurent Garnier consider to be the best club
in London is a must for me.
It’s also a sort of 1st birthday of my Brownswood record label - and
with the music industry in the confused shape it’s been in we
definitely deserve to celebrate surviving 12 months! We've had some
success with Ben Westbeech who apart from tearing up most festivals
this summer, has also built up a bit of a rep with his DJ sets - so
he's gonna drop a guest mix alongside the brilliant Simbad (who's debut
album drops on Raw Fusion any day), Ross Allen - the original
'eclectro' DJ mixing up dubstep/northern/electronic/hip hop in a jazz
style as opposed to jazzy style - ask him! And we've also got Thristian
making his Brownswood debut at the End - one to watch out for. That's
the side room! meanwhile in the main space I'm getting my tunes ready
already for at least a 4 hour set - just got back from South Africa and
Japan where I picked up some gems to drop before introducing a very one
off 'Moodyman' selection - proper exclusive from Detroit's finest and
my favourite South German grape picker - the mighty fine and always
maturing mister Rainer Truby - very much needed back in the capital -
always a journey! It’s been a while since I played and presented a big
London Saturday night party - to be honest I can't wait to turn the
volume up and drop some Soil and Pimp next to some Fela next to that
mighty 'Nights' tune by Benga and Coki! Hold tight people!"
