Club Night Profile
"It's Just A Big Disco"
Except it's a bit more than that really. If any club in the last decade can be credited with keeping the acid house mentality alive it has to be our favourite bug-eyed friends from Manchester. Their residency at The End gives southern-dwellers a chance to get a taste of the rather special Bugged Out! brand of madness. Even the biggest names in underground music seem chuffed to bits to play at Bugged Out! parties, and the artists genuinely enjoy themselves just as much as the clubbers. At Bugged Out! , DJ's have the bollocks to play records they would never dare play anywhere else - and without exception they go down a storm! Rachel Stephens v Johny Cash v Akufen vs Kraftwerk? Only at Bugged Out!
The history of this clubbing institution stretches back to 1994 when the creators of Jockey Slut teamed up with Sankeys Soap to run a weekly Friday nighter (which almost ended up being called Soap Opera or Okey Dokey - dont ask!). The very first Bugged Out! night in Manchester was a Warp Records party with LFO and Autechre.
From the beginning, Bugged Out! has been the first to champion some of the biggest names in electronic music, with names gracing the Bugged Out! flyers including Daft Punk, Derrick Carter , Chemical Brothers, Dave Clarke, Green Velvet , DJ Sneak , LFO, Squarepusher, DJ Hell, Miss Kittin & The Hacker...
En route to The End, the club has thrown parties at Nation in Liverpool, the Fitzcarraldo Ferry, the Paradise Factory and Pontins Holiday camp in Prestatyn, to name but a few. Four years on and Bugged Out! are firmly entrenched in their London home, with guest DJ's including Tiga , DJ Hell, Ivan Smagghe, Erol Alkan , Jo Jo DeFreq, Optimo DJs, The Glimmers , Mylo , Vitalic, Ellen Alien, King Roc and Tom Neville. It may just be a Big Disco but it's a damn fine one at that. Viva Acid House!
