Club Night Profile

Short and Sweet

Biography

Apparently due to a combination of internet, Sky Plus and half the crap Hollywood churns out, cinema is more glorious past than rosy future. But it's not bad news for the craft of film itself. When any art form reaches sell out point it only makes the true believers and artists go underground and back to their roots, which can only improve its future. Internet sites like YouTube have made it easier than ever for new (and old) film makers to create something and find an audience so these are changing times for film.

Film clubs, good quality independent cinemas with well thought out screenings, and interactive movie evenings are happening up all over London and the world beyond, connecting directors, film makers and fans sharing their love for all things celluloid whether an epic or short film, funny or serious, world cinema or animation. And as long as people stay passionate about the art of film, like Julia who runs Short and Sweet , people will want to get together watch and talk about film.

Recent work has been from such established directors such as Michel Gondry, Rob Sanders, John Hardwick, Richard Fenwick, Ravi Kumar, Sean Weinsteim, Daniel Mu lloy, Jason Reitman, Jonathan Glazer, Kim Gherig, Neil Blomkamp, Ashmir Kumar Minivegas, Keith Bearden and To film makers that are undiscovered: Ian Mackinnon, James Healy, Will Sinclair, Claire Harvey, Rowena True, Kip Hall, Robert Chiu.

That's why we like having Short and Sweet here, it's a free entry film night for anyone from cinema afficiandos to those like you and me who just want to watch something with a little bit of thought and intelligence behind it. If you've any interest in film we'd recommend coming along.
