2008 At The End
We reflect upon the past year, and doff Santa’s Hat to 2008…
New Year’s Resolutions are all well and good. But for those of you for whom the beginning of a year results in a new start for old clubbing habits, there is often little salvation. And unfortunately, we’re encouraging you to waiver from those good intentions – as our established flagship Friday and Saturday night residencies remain the cornerstone of the weekend program next year.
Last year, we were proud to announce the launch of two new key residencies from two major talents; DJ Friction’s Shogun Audio and James Holden’s Border Community. Both nights delivered fresh, bold line-ups and forward thinking music from their respective scenes. And both consolidate the residencies further in 2008, beginning with a Shogun vs. Metalheadz special on Friday 15th February and the first Border Community party of the year on Saturday 23rd February.

If these two represent the quality of staple End events of the future, there is none more cutting edge (nay, bleeding edge!) than the sparse, bass-led revolution emanating from the FWD camp. Last August we hosted their second event at the club and the expectant masses were suitably captivated. How could we possibly refuse to do more? And so, if there are five Fridays in a month next year, FWD will be one of them.
...But wasn’t the extra Friday in a five week month reserved for Buzzin Fly? Indeed it was, but eventually all good things must come to an end. Here at The End we have been fortunate enough to host quarterly parties for Ben Watt’s sublime house imprint for a couple of years now. During that time the label has soared, releasing some extraordinary music. So we really had no option but to move it from a Friday to a Saturday. And from four dates to six. Apologies in advance.
Our other new Saturday night signing comes in on a free transfer, also
for six games in the 2008 season. Groove Armada bring their Lovebox
party to the venue for a series of eclectic, electric, polyrhythmic and
cataclysmic DJ sessions. We all know how awesome the festival is, and
the club night is the same, but in microcosmic late-night form.

So the coming year will witness recent additions progressing, established nights evolving and some completely new residencies from liked-minded souls. If your old habits truly die hard, our little family won't be much help in keeping you on the straight and narrow next year...
