TC - Secret Bristol
TC was the sound of drum & bass in '07; here he tells us his favourite hang outs in his home town.
Tripitakas
Colston St, Bristol
www.tripitakas.com
When I was making my album with Jon from Distorted Minds we pretty much lived at Tripitakas. Paul, the owner and chef, cooks up fresh Thai curry three times a day and he also sells freshly made sushi. It's the best sushi I have had outside of Japan! From the exterior it just looks like a sandwich shop but within lies a really relaxed friendly atmosphere, good fresh food and endless cups of tea. They also cater for parties too and they do these totally amazing platters of sushi.
The Dutch Pot
9 Brislington Hill , Brislington , City Centre , BS4 5BE
I love my Jamaican food and this is the spot for me. Everything I have had from here has been great. Except in true Jamaican style you get too much food! My favourite is the Jerk Chicken.
Native
15 Small St Bristol
www.nativebristol.com
This is the home of D-style's night 'RUN' and we have a headliner there every Tuesday, hosted by Jakes. If you are into drum & bass it’s definitely one of the best midweek nights ever! I know people who drive six hours to go and party there so it must be good. I occasionally find myself at Native if I have the rare chance of a weekend off to party and it's always a good night out.
Mack Daddy’s
22 Park Row, Bristol
www.mackdaddys.co.uk
Shaun from Mack Daddy’s has been cutting my hair for six months and I have to put the shop on here because he got rid of my stupid fringe that the last hairdresser I saw gave me. He manages to make my stupid thick hair actually look like hair. My girl thinks I am on the verge of ending up with fashion hair and I did get some tram lines for a laugh but whatever you need when it comes to hair they sort you out. A true Bristol institution.
The Star And Garter
33 Brook Rd, Montpelier, Bristol, BS6 5LR
My old after-hours drinking haunt, great for a late night drop of Wray & Nephew. There's always soul music playing in the background and a great atmosphere. Proper roots. I used to go to the Star on the most drunken nights; usually when we got kicked out of Cosies. I always wake up the next morning and say 'I'll never drink again'!
TC’s awesome 'Watch The Ride' mix is out January 21st 2008 on Harmless Records.
