Hook n Sling - Secret Sydney
Top tips for the Australian capital
The Little Marionette Espresso Bar
Ok, this is in Balmain in Sydney. One of my good mates runs this little hole in the wall cafe. I spend about two hours a day there. I always have a toasted bacon egg and tomato relish roll with a couple of coffees. I gave the cafe my Pinocchio marionette when it opened, to hang on the wall. I don't pay for much when I go there.
Adriano Zumbo Patissier
This is in Balmain as well, close to where I live. I used to be a graphic designer before music, so I designed his business cards when he opened early this year. I get free pastries here.
Jazzsushi on Devonshire St
Ok, I gotta pay for stuff here, but I don't mind 'cause I love the food. It's a French/Japanese fusion restaurant. I've been going there since it opened three years ago. The place is tiny...only seats about 20. They've got live jazz too. The first time I went there, after all food had been served for the night, the chef comes out and plays trumpet while the owner who was behind the till steps up to the mic and sings us all a tune. Bizarre but I love it.
Galleries Trainer Shop, Victoria
This place is right in the middle of town. Even though it's amongst the central business district, it's probably the best place in Sydney to get decent kicks. There's still heaps of other places around town but here you never seem to come away disappointed.
Cleveland and Crown St
I used to live right near this junction in Sydney. Basically, you can eat from ten different countries within 50 metres. One of those parts of town that runs till pretty late as well.
