Kos - Secret Barcelona
Former Barcelona resident Kos selects the best clubs, beach and restaurants in the Catalunya capital.
Goliard Restaurant
C/ Progrés 6, 08012 Barcelona
A hidden gem in Barcelona; based in Gracia. The Catalan food here is amazing and it is my favourite restaurant in the city. I haven’t got a sweet tooth at all, but can never resist the chocolate truffle dessert. The menu here was the first Spanish that I ever learnt, and it is still the most useful!
Shibui Restaurant
272 Comte d'Urgell, Barcelona
www.shibuirestaurantes.com
For me the best Japanese restaurant in Barcelona. I often saw the likes of Ronaldinho and Lionel Messi in there, and it’s not even expensive!
El Japones
Passatge Concepció 2, 08008 Barcelona
www.eljaponesdeltragaluz.com
This restaurant is good if you are in a big crowd, it has a cool buzzy atmosphere and fast service which is unusual for Spain.
Thai Garden
C/ Diputació 273, 08007 Barcelona
www.thaigardensgroup.com
A beautiful restaurant designed like a garden with streams running through it! Plus the food is mouth watering.
Bogatell Beach
Bogatell was right in front of my house. Not the most beautiful beach but easy to get to, and they have cool beach parties in the evenings. I often used to get back home on a Sunday night from a weekend of travelling and head down to the beach bars. Barcelona based DJs like Dubfire and Funk D'Void are often down there, and it’s a great way to round off the weekend.
The Rock Bar
www.therockbaribiza.com
This bar is in El Born, and it is the sister of the famous bar in Ibiza. This was the place we always met at the start of the evening. Most of the Ibiza staff come here to work for the winter and continue the Balearic vibe.
The Loft @ Razzamatazz
Pamplona, 88 Poble Nou-Villa Olímpica, 08018, Barcelona
www.salarazzmatazz.com
This is the place for upfront techno. It was also dangerously close to my house! I came here on my very first night in Barcelona. The top floor often has DJs like Luciano and Miss Kittin, and downstairs it's the rock venue. It's dark and dingy, just how the Catalans like it.
