UMF Festival
The only electronic music festival in Finland worth going to. Small but so fine! For a weekend in August, the city of Turku transforms into a pulsating capital of electronic music and extensive raving. Remember, the sun aint going down so bring your sunglasses…
Monk Jazzklubi, Humalistonkatu 3, Turku
Great music selection from resident Felix Manell, playing rare jazz-funk-fusion to a wickedly mixed crowd. Love the bar there too, serving the best shots in town, especially the all-new "fisherman’s friend vodka" - makes you feel like you’re flying.
Donna Bar, on the river
Traditional merchant ships transformed into bars / restaurants is somehow very Turku-like. There are now probably 30 of them along the Aura river. Donna is one of the oldest boats, serving great drinks and some food too. Expect a full house when the sun is shining.
Kerttu, Läntinen Pitkäkatu
A restaurant-bar located near the train station with a nice alternative student crowd. Amazing traditional Finnish menu, including the Kossu-meatballs and mashed potatoes which is my absolute favourite. In the evening, various DJs rock the place with a mixed music policy. Recommended.
Korpoström, Korppoo Island
This island is two hours driving from Turku deep down in the beautiful archipelagos of Turku but this is my favourite place on earth. Just about the last point before the raw sea nature starts, if you want peace, here you are right.
