Todd Terje - Secret Oslo
The best restaurants, bars, cinemas and shops in Oslo, as selected by Todd Terje
BLÅ, Brenneriveien 9c, 0182 Oslo
Beautifully located by the river, it's Oslo's best outdoor waterhole. Not to mention the best club nights, the best sound system and the prettiest girls. Resident nights such as Full Pupp (Prins Thomas), Lunatech (Pål Strangefruit/Mungolian Jet Set) and Shari Vari (yours truly) isn't a bad thing either.
ALEX SUSHI, Cort Adelers gate 2, 0254 Oslo
Some say this is the best sushi restaurant in Europe. Including me…Prices may seem a bit steep, but as soon as you taste their coriander sauce you're sold, and that's just the beginning! This is definitely the best sushi I've ever tasted (including all I tried in Japan), and the portions are actually big enough to fill your stomach.
KAMPEN BISTRO, Bøgata 21, 0655 Oslo
Hidden away in an old part of the city, not many know about this fantastic little restaurant. Cheap 3-courses, an extensive wine menu and extra kudos for nice laidback decoration. Get in early if you want a table, it's getting more popular as we speak. Say hello to Elvis on your way out.
TRONSMO, Kr Augustsgate 19, 0164 Oslo
According to Allen Ginsberg and Neil Gaiman, "Tronsmo is the best/coolest book store in the world". They may be right. An independent book store with stuff you won't find anywhere else. Specialising in music, art, subcultures, gay literature and comics (yup), as well as a BIG section of novels from all over the world, you won't need another book store. Say hello to Elvis on your way out #2.
CINEMATEKET, Dronningens gate 16, 0105 Oslo
This little independent cinema shows everything you ever missed plus all your favourites. Selections ranging from Top Gun to Dostojevsky, you can trust that you'll find something you like. I found out that you can also send requests. Once I asked for La Planete Sauvage, it was put up the month after. Remember to check out their store with lots of strange DVDs and movie posters.
Caution: Big Woody Allen hang up!
