Following his arrival on these shores almost ten years ago, DJ Marky enjoyed a meteoric rise to DJ superstardom, through a combination of his sensational technical skills and his dazzling flair and character behind the decks. Marky's fresh approach and insatiable enthusiasm for the music instantly won him a legion of fans, and provided a platform from which he went on to take the world by storm.

Hooked on music from a young age, employment in a record shop in the early 1990s allowed DJ Marky access to UK hardcore sounds. Alongside the likes of Patife and XRS, Marky pushed this new sound for a long time until it grew in to one of Brazil's strongest music scenes. In 1997, Bryan Gee saw Marky DJ in Brazil and insisted he came back to the UK with him. At one of Movement's legendary London vs. Bristol parties at Mass, Marky was thrown in at the deep end, playing the Bristol room as a total unknown. In true Marky fashion, he tore the roof off, to the point where after his set he had to go in to the London room and play again, just to prevent a riot!

This debut was typical of DJ Marky, and over the following years, the vibrancy and energy that surrounded him and the sounds coming out of Brazil breathed fresh air into the drum & bass scene, whilst his individual abilities raised the bar for drum & bass DJs across the board. It wasn't long before Marky begun to generate significant media interest, and before long the awards begun to roll in. Meanwhile, his mix album, 'The Brasilian Job' was hailed as 'the best mix album ever' (DJ Mag) and went on to become the best selling drum & bass compilation ever.

'The Brasilian Job' contained the original dub mix of 'LK', produced by DJ Marky & XRS, which went on to become a UK Top 20 hit and even earned Marky an appearance on Top of the Pops! From there, his production career has gone from strength to strength, with releases on every top label including V Recordings, Moving Shadow, Soul:R, C.I.A. and of course his own imprint Innerground Records which was established in 2003. Innerground has been primarily a vehicle for Marky's own output, but has also become a hotbed for great music by new and established talent, including the likes of Calibre, Total Science, Logistics and Craggz, & Parallel Forces.

Today, Marky is still tearing up dancefloors the world over, plus spending time in the studio with his latest protégé Bungle, and devoting a lot of time to Innerground. Marky's residency at The End, DJ Marky & Friends, has become the most exciting night in the drum & bass calendar, with Marky playing unprecedented long sets, sometimes eight hours long, whilst assembling fantastic line ups of friends and peers for the lounge and as main room guests. DJ Marky & Friends is the embodiment of the quality and excitement that Marky is known for.
