Laurent Garnier is more than a little different from your average DJ. Going above and beyond the 'superstar DJ ' tag, he's widely recognised as one of the best DJs in the world.

Since his debut at Manchester 's Hacienda in 1987 and the beginning of the acid house explosion, he has played a key role in the development of the electronic music scene worldwide. Earning the name 'Flying DJ' in his early days playing across Europe, over the last 20 years he has built up his international reputation by playing at all the major clubs and festivals across the globe. During that time he has been continually recognised by the press with awards; in 2006, nearly twenty years since he started, Time Out named him 'DJ of the Year'. His relationship with his public is also second to none, with intimate and selective residencies across the globe and a fiercely loyal following wherever he goes.

It is Laurent Garnier's unrivalled talent on the decks, combined with a deep knowledge and absolute love of music that has garnered him such acclaim. Throughout his career, Laurent Garnier has always produced his own music. With a slew of key production credits to his name, in 1994 he created his own record label F Communications with Eric Morand, and has gone on to produce a host of massive albums and 12"s culminating in the recent release of his 'Retrospective' album that features classics, new versions of some of his best-known tracks, his own remixes, and other artists' remixes of his work. Bursting at the seams with some of the most innovative music electronic music has ever spawned, this album is testament to Laurent's gifts in the studio.

Garnier is held in the highest esteem by both the godfathers of techno in Detroit, with whom he has built close links, as well as the younger generation of producers and DJs now coming through. One of the most revered DJs ever, Laurent Garnier is the jewel in The End's crown.

garnier the dj's dj. superb every time-do not think i have heard a crap mix from the guy ever and ive been listening since 1994! from his classic mixes on mixmag, laboratoire, essential mix nov 95 (2 hours of the best music in the world) to watching him rock many clubs like henrys cork. the man is a living legend.
