Kid Blue - Secret London
Chew The Fat!'s resident shares his view of London
Buen Ayre
Broadway Market, E8
I live in the East of London so this place is perfect – just round the corner. I found out about Buen Ayre from a friend who knew I was a massive fan of steaks! It’s an Argentinean steak house with a great atmosphere, about half the price of Gaucho and if you read up about it it’s regularly recommended by Argentineans as the best steak in London. It might not quite be Buenos Aires but it’s close.
Royal Court Theater
Sloane Square, SW1
I don’t get to go to the theatre as often as I’d like to, but this is by far the best in London in terms of the plays they put on. They’re always unusual and interesting productions, I’m really looking forward to going to see Rhinoceros in November which has had great reviews.
The view from Alexandra Palace to Canary Wharf
I was stunned by this the first time I saw it, there aren’t many hills in London so you don’t get many views from any height, but this is a perfect view looking south across the city. It was only when I saw this that I realised just how big London was.
Royal Inn On the Park
111 Lauriston Road, E9
One of the things I love most about London is the pubs – they’ve not been turned into chain bars like the rest of the UK. This place isn’t really a secret, but it’s a great pub on the corner of Victoria Park where I’ve spent many a Sunday afternoon getting drunk in the sunshine.
Dragon Bar
5 Leonard Street, EC2A
I really like this place just for the music and atmosphere. In somewhere as big as London it’s nice to come somewhere intimate like this. It’s relaxed, the tunes are always good and it’s on the way from my house into town so perfect for a pre-club drink. I liked it so much I had my birthday party there.
