'As One' Presents: Border Community

Saturday 08/12/2007

*REVIEW*

Border Community returned for a pre-christmas bash - and what a cracking party it was! Kieran Hebden took on the mammoth task of playing all night in the Lounge - a real journey of a set, taking in everything from techno to Timbaland, and keeping his dancefloor rocking all night. In the main room, Cobblestone Jazz received a raptourous welcome and played an hour of amazing improvised techno, finishing off with 'Dump Truck' and the clubbing equivalent of a standing ovation. Label head James Holden took over, and kept the main room alive until well into the morning. Upstairs, Luke Solomon and gang kept AKA lively with a blend of house and disco until the wee hours.

Absolutely blown away by the last one, it just kept on throwing out suprises all night! It is great to find a night that really pushes the bounderies and takes you somewhere new. Not missing this one for anything!

Holden is the man at the moment for me. Quality music no one else is playing. Check this 3 hour set out, awesome. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=JITN0R8O

Hebden really mixes it up. Aphex Twin style electronica, classic techno, house, electro (the proper gear, not electro house, what ever that is!!). Geeky sounds, all aimed squarely at the dancefloor.

Went to last border community (loved it!). Kieren Hebden plays minimal house and techno (well that general area, as it included lots of jazzy beats and deep housey stuff too). It's quite chilled but still very dancey! Not much like usual Four Tet
