60 Second interview with Loco Dice

Miss Jools grabs Dice for a quick interview.

Our famous Sunday night party Clandestino reached the grand old age of five in early November 2007, and to celebrate we invited the amazing Loco Dice to play the main room. As the party approached, Clandestino promoter and resident DJ Miss Jools bagged herself 60 seconds on the phone with him as he waited for a flight from LA to Guatemala…

Miss Jools: Hey Dice, how you doing? Thanks for taking time out of your hectic schedule to do this interview. Whereabouts in the world are you right now and what's on the agenda?

Loco Dice: Right now I'm in Los Angeles at the LAX waiting for my flight to Guatemala. Besides watching the soccer game, Mexico vs Guatemala, I´m doing the interview for you! I'm on the USA / Central America Tour I always do in October; next is Mexico and than back to the US.

You played for our Clandestino 1st birthday party way back in 2003 which was a great success and a very memorable party for us...Bringing you back to play again for our 5th birthday is a real pleasure. How do you feel about coming back 5 years on and are you looking forward to helping us celebrate?

I still remember that night because it was such an amazing vibe - like in Ibiza. Clandestino's got that special crowd that transfers the night into a hot party. I'm really looking forward to this, I really miss a lot of friends there and I cant wait to party with them.

With a string of productions and remixes to date, longer than the average DJ's record collection, do you have a particular favorite and if so can you tell me the reasons why?

Actually all Basic Channel and Maurizio stuff because this is how I got into electronic music. I love it!

You've recently set up a new label with partner-in-crime Martin Buttrich called Desolat. The first release ‘Ribcage’ by Deepdish’s Dubfire has been a huge success and taken clubland by storm. What was your concept behind the label and what are your future plans for it?

The concept behind starting the label is first to have fun with it and not to get too serious. We’ve got a great team; Martin, me and Vladimr aka The Professor love to find special tracks and to put them out without following trends or hype. The idea of it started in New York, during this time we had a lot of great ideas of how we wanted to run the label, basically to get it back to where the music is on wax, and also to try to combine art with music. We´re just beginning but we’re all very excited about what’s going to happen.

Musically, what inspires you?

Puhhh, there are too many to list here because it’s not just the music, it’s my lifestyle and everything around me that keeps me inspired.

Your career and success as an international artist has received a lot of media attention over the years, but is there one personal thing about Loco Dice that we don’t know and that you would care to share with us today…

Hey I’m just Dice, you know me!
