Originally a trio, Commix is now made up of the duo, Guy and George. The boys emerged in 2003 around the same time as Nu:Tone and Logistics as Cambridge made a sudden impact on the d&b scene. Initially, Commix released on a handful of massively respected labels such as Good Looking, 31 Records and Advanced but it was a trio of releases in 2004; their massive 12” ‘Herbie/Vibrations’, their remix of the DJ Die classic ‘Autumn’ on Liquid V and their two tracks on ‘The Future Sound of Cambridge EP’ on Hospital that really marked them out as exciting new talents in drum & bass.
Along with a handful of other new artists, Commix were instrumental at this time in helping drive the music in a fresh new direction with their intelligent, edgy yet musical style. Since then they’ve been signed to Goldie’s label Metalheadz, and if proof was ever needed of their credentials, they will be releasing their debut album on ‘headz, making them the first artist to ever do so other than Goldie himself. And if it’s good enough for Goldie…
