Biography

DJ Mehdi is one of the infamous Ed Banger crew alongside the likes of Justice, Busy P and Uffie & Feadz.  Born and raised in the Parisian suburbs, he started his career in the mid 90s producing major hip hop albums for French artists as well as studio work for the likes of MC Solaar.  By the arrival of the 00s, Mehdi’s electro influences had begun creeping into his music more and more, and after releasing his full length debut solo album in 2002 on Virgin, ‘The Story of Espion’, he signed up with the Ed Banger crew.  In late 2006 he released his second LP, ‘Lucky Boy’, which established him as one of the most exciting talents in the hip hop and electro scenes, with the likes of Switch, Outlines and Thomas Bangalter of Daft Punk remixing and editing signature versions of some of the album’s finer moments.  He’s remixed the likes of Cassius, New Young Pony Club, Joss Stone and Asian Dub Foundation and spent much of 2006 and 2007 touring all over the world, usually alongside Busy P and Justice, carving out a reputation as one of the most exciting block-rocking DJs around.
