Biography

The legendary Pascal, an original member of the Ganja Kru, and an integral part of the True Playaz camp, is in some ways the unsung hero of the Hype, Zinc and Pascal trinity.  In fact, Pascal’s career predates his involvement with the Playaz camp; he launched his first label Face Records in 1992 as one half of Pascal & Sponge, a production partnership that spawned, amongst a host of other tracks, the anthem ‘Johnny Jungle’.  After an amicable split with Sponge he launched Frontline, a label that can boast such classics as ‘Serious Sounds’, ‘P-Funk Era’ and ‘6 Million Wayz’ as part of its enormous catalogue, which is currently approaching its one hundredth 12” release!  He went on to form True Playaz with Zinc and Hype, a label which is one of the most celebrated in drum & bass’ history.  His musical contributions to the label include such classics as ‘Cool Manoeuvre’ and ‘Real Vibes’.  Pascal is resident at the True Players night – which has set up home at Fabric - but previously was housed at The End. We’re lucky enough to have a classic recording of him playing here at True Playaz from back in those days.
