DJ Profile
One of the most successful and acclaimed electronic music groups of all time, Parisians Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem Christo first met in ’87 and, after their first band Darlin’ ran its course, began to work on their house and techno as a duo after attending a rave at EuroDisney in ’93. After releasing early tracks through Soma Records and rapidly developing a strong following on the dance scene, they signed to Virgin, and by 1997 had released their debut album. ‘Homework’ catapulted them to international fame fusing techno, electro and house with influences from disco, pop, rock and beyond. The album was a massive him, including the single ‘Around The World’ and was hailed as one of the most groundbreaking debuts of the era. Their sophomore album followed in 2001, ‘Discovery’ and the album won them further critical acclaim and legions of fans worldwide. By the release of their third album ‘Human After All’ in 2004 they were able to command audiences of 30,000 upwards for their famous live shows. Greatest hits albums, DVD releases, world tours and even a film directed and produced by the guys have since followed, but the most tangible evidence of Daft Punk’s huge success is their musical legacy. With the sounds of the likes of Justice and Digitalism ruling the clubs today, Daft Punk’s influence and contribution to music is immeasurable. They played at The End in Jan 2007 for a Soma party that has gone down in End history.
