Biography

For some reason Danny Howells has become almost as famous for his shirts and love of tequila as for his blinding sets and sublime productions. But don't let this distract you from his skills behind the decks. Danny Howells seems to have managed that rare thing in a DJ - a trademark musical style, a reputation for kicking the ass out of every dancefloor he plays AND being known as one of the nicest DJ's on the circuit. No one has a bad word to say about him!

If you have been down to his Dig Deeper residency at The End you will know why. Dig Deeper attracts one of the friendliest and most enthusiastic crowds you'll see in London, probably helped by the fact that in between mixes Danny always takes the time to shake everyone's hands and say hello.

Danny relishes the chance to play all night, as it gives him the opportunity to play his warm up records as well as his peak time bangers. "My hope is that the night will develop in a way the New York residency did," he explains, "whereby I can have a lot more freedom to be more experimental with what I play, especially at the start and the end of the night."

Danny's sound can best be described as deep-sexy-futuristic-tech-funk-house. A dirty funky house track entices you onto the dancefloor, a slamming techno cut wipes the floor with you, and soaring melodic progressive house track picks you back up again and sets you back on track.

As well as being known for his DJ sets, Danny has created a catalogue of successful mixes throughout the years, for Global Underground, Jackpot and his own Nocturnal Frequencies Series, as well as his recent 'Choice' mix for Azuli.

Danny and his production partner Dick Trevor have been responsible for several peak time club anthems, from 'Breathe' on Renaissance to 'Dusk till Dawn' on C2 which hit the charts in 2004. He has also given the magic Howells treatment to an incredibly diverse array of artists, from BT and David Morales to Destiny's Child, Robbie Williams and even Madonna.

And what can clubbers expect from Danny Howells's Dig Deeper residency at The End? "More silliness, along with seven hours of my favourite music, from downtempo, deep house through to techno - come to The End and make some noise!" That sounds like an order!
