DJ Profile

Dave Angel

Biography

One of the UK scene’s original pioneers, Dave Angel was already pushing acid house on pirate radio station Phaze One when the dance music explosion of 1988 happened and he quickly found himself at the forefront of an exciting musical revolution. Hailed as a major new DJ talent, it wasn’t long before he had his first shot at producing: his debut remix – of Eurhythmics ‘Sweet Dreams’ - got into the Top 30. Following this success he went on to remix for Orbital, Carl Cox and Underworld, whilst releasing more of his own work on labels such as Polydor and Island. His debut album, released in 1995, was incredibly successful, especially considering that a techno artist album was still relatively unusual at that time. He went on to set up his own label, Rotation Records, and for the last twenty years he has continued to release forward-thinking techno and DJ around the world - building on his reputation as one of the genre’s true innovators.
