Die
Friday 16th May 2008
DJ Die is in need of no introduction as one of the founding members of the Full Cycle crew, comprising Die, Krust and of course Roni Size, who as part of their Reprazent collective became drum & bass’ most decorated group of producers. Die begun DJing and producing in the mid to late 80s. By 1994, Die’s early productions alongside Roni Size were emerging on both Full Cycle and V Recordings including such classics as ‘Agility’, ‘Fashion’ and ‘The Calling’. His work developed during the mid 90s with a host of tracks on Full Cycle’s landmark compilation ‘Music Box’, and after the massive success of ‘Newforms’ in 1997, Die enjoyed one of the creative peaks of his career with a rash of all-time classic tracks including ‘Clear Skyz’, ‘Drop Bear’ and ‘Poison Ivy’ on Full Cycle, ‘Autumn’, ‘Li Li’ and ‘It’s Jazzy’ on V Recordings and of course the ‘Breakbeat Era’ album with Roni and Onallee. Since the turn of the century, Die’s creative output has never waned with another Reprazent album, a collaborative album with Krust under their I Kamanchi alias and producing tracks and mixing the Full Cycle ‘Cross Collaborations’ project. Die to this day continues to push the boundaries of drum & bass as a producer, and showcase his talent behind the decks around the world.
