Acclaimed producer Efdemin, aka Phillip Sollmann, is currently one of the hottest things to come out of Germany. He’s signed to the excellent Dial Records – a loose collective of artists that includes himself, Pantha du Prince and Lawrence, and which despite having no particular game plan, has grown to become one of the best respected house and techno imprints around. Having been both a student of at the Institute of Computer Music, a singer in a band, and a cello player, it’s probably a combination of his meticulous attention to detail plus a finely tuned sense of groove and melody that makes him such a great producer. His debut self-titled album, released in 2007, combined stripped grooves, warm melodies and minimal bleeps to powerful effect.
