Tech-funk pioneer Elite Force, aka Simon Shackleton, is widely regarded as one of the finest talents in breaks. Starting out back in 1996, he formed his own label, Fused and Bruised, releasing under a number of aliases. The label ran till 2001, going on to become one of breaks’ best respected labels, with Elite Force moving on to producing music for Meat Katie’s Whole9Yards. It was with them that he released his debut album, ‘No Turning Back’ in 2003, which received widespread critical acclaim and secured his position amongst the scene’s top players and as mainstay of the label. After a series of top 12”s on the likes of TCR and Blue Black he released his follow up album in 2006, ‘Modern Primitive’ on Adrift Recordings. In 2007 he established Used and Abused, his latest label project which aims to showcase the best of the so called tech-funk sound, joining the dots between breaks, electro, house and techno. Outstanding releases have already come from Elite Force himself, as well as Speculum, with more to come from an array of top talent. Meanwhile his DJ sets keep him at the forefront of the scene rocking clubs all over the world. The Chew The Fat! crowd here at The End are big fans of his, and a wicked Elite Force mix can be found right here on endclub.com – check the links to the right.
