As One Presents: The End's 12th Birthday *REVIEW ADDED*
Erol Alkan first came to prominence as the man at the forefront of the
huge wave of bootlegging, and through his famous genre-mashing DJ sets,
the rise and rise of his club night Trash, and his incredible remixing
skills he has become one of the most exciting and in-demand DJs in the
world.
Since 1997, he fired up an enthusiastic crowd every Monday at his night, Trash - and since 2000 Trash called The End home. However, after ten absurdly successful years,
Trash made its final bow at its own birthday party. Erol played The
End's main room at Trash week-in week-out throughout that time, and in
recent years has had guest bands performing including Scissor Sisters,
Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Rapture, The Slits, Bloc Party, The Klaxons,
Archie Bronson Outfit, Good Shoes and The Mystery Jets.
In true Trash style, the party ended with a bang on the night's 10th
birthday - one of the busiest nights the club has ever seen, with over
2000 people queuing to pay their respects. Trash will be missed -
however, it spawned Durrr, a new Monday night at The End with Erol
curating, a similar musical ethos and a penchant for live music,
which promises to be every bit as exciting and trailblazing as Trash
has been for the last ten years.
Erol also holds another residency at The End at the fantastic Bugged
Out!, for whom his unforgettable lounge sets have become the star
attraction. As popular with the electronic music cognoscenti as he is
with the indie kids, Erol has built a worldwide reputation for playing
sets of the finest electronic music infused with elements of the highly
unexpected, and his own exclusive re-workings that in recent years have
included Mylo's 'Drop The Pressure', Hot Chip's 'And I Was a Boy From
School', Justice's 'Waters of Nazareth' and Scissor Sisters 'I Don't
Feel Like Dancin'.
Erol has universal respect and admiration from the indie and dance
scenes, and is massively popular with the masses too - try squeezing
yourself in to the club any time he graces a Bugged Out! flyer and see
for yourself!
