Described by one reviewer as “accessible techno for kids who hate techno but love guitars”, Foals have won the hearts and minds of both the dance fraternity and the indie kids, purely by sticking to what they believe in. The five piece band were previously students at Oxford University, before they dropped out to concentrate on Foals full time. The brainiest bunch of rockers around? Probably. Now based in Brighton and signed to Transgressive Records, their debut album was released in March 2008. ‘Antidotes’ was originally meant to have been produced by Dave Sitek (from TV on The Radio) but in a delightfully contrary fashion,  Foals decided they didn’t like the spacey feeling he had given the tracks, so they ended up remixing the entire record themselves. Intellectual Nu-Rave? Let’s skip the categorisations for once and enjoy the smart, upbeat, danceable and refreshing sound of these talented young punk-funkers.
