DJ Profile
There are many reasons to like Joakim. For one, his latest album ‘Monsters and Silly Things’ has (self-drawn) artwork that reminds us of being a kid again. For two, he is a rather charming Frenchman. For three, his Tigersushi label has brought us tracks by other lovely people such as Maurice Fulton and Metro Area. And for four, he has the knack of putting together melody and bassline with some kind of secret recipe that makes a killer track every time. He’s also a bit of a dab hand at this remixing malarkey, having done some jiggery pokery on tracks from Tiga, Air and Antena. If that wasn’t enough, he has a ghost-busting live band called Joakim and the Electroplasmic Band, on which he plays keyboards and guitar, and sings (what, all at once?). A very busy and very talented chap if ever there was one.
