The hot spots of European dance music jump round – whether it’s Berlin, Norway, France or even Croydon. A few years ago Sweden had its moment, and all of a sudden there was a proliferation of very young, very talented Swedish producers and DJs, tagged by the dance music press as the ‘Swedish house mafia’. Leading the charge was one John Dahlback – who at only 22 has already become a household name with tracks such as the underground anthem ‘Borderline’. As well as producing under his own name, he releases with his cousin Jesper Dahlback under their Hugg & Pepp moniker, alongside running three of his own labels – Pickadoll, Dahlback Recordings and Jackmoves. Incredibly hard working and ridiculously talented - if Sweden keeps churning out talent like this, the country will be still having its moment in many years to come.
