Despite taking a fairly conventional route into the music business (random degree followed by job in record shop, followed by first forays into DJing), Justin Robertson is far from an unconventional producer. Is he an acid house DJ or a rock star? Is he Justin Robertson, Lionrock, or his latest incarnation, Three Earls? What is he hiding under his spectacular collection of hats? One half of Justin Robertson fits perfectly with the Bugged Out! style bouncy beautiful techno noise, but the other half is influenced by Bowie and Talking Heads. In 2001 he released the critically acclaimed ‘Justin Robertson presents Revtone’, which mixed up house, techno and nu-wave disco, with a second instalment planned. Whether singing, twiddling knobs or mixing records, he seems to excel at everything he does – but refreshingly, doesn’t like to shout about it. Hats off to you sir!
