Klute is a unique drum & bass artist with a musical path completely different to the vast majority of his contemporaries, actually beginning his career in the 80s as the front man of an internationally touring skate punk band The Stupids. After discovering a passion for all kinds of electronic music and by 1996 he was playing his first gigs as a drum & bass DJ. His early production work found a home on the pioneering Certificate 18 label, which also released his first two artist albums, before he decided in 2001 to set up his own imprint Commercial Suicide. The label has developed into one of the scene’s best, with a commitment to avoiding pigeon holes and releasing music from a broad range of talent from across the scene including the likes of Calibre, Digital, Spirit, Amit, SKC and Hive. Klute has continued to produce music at a prolific rate, with releases on labels including Soul:r, Metalheadz and Shogun Audio, not to mention Commercial Suicide on which he has now released a further three artist albums, all of which have included much of his non-drum & bass work. Klute is a remarkable artist who as both a producer and a DJ, combines a real capacity for the unexpected with a style, sound and identity that is very much his own.
