Biography

Konrad Black, aka Todd Shillington, is one of the leading players in electronic music today; as a DJ and as the co-founder of Wagon Repair his name is synonymous with cutting-edge, bass-heavy, atmospheric techno.  Now based predominantly in Berlin, Todd originally hails from Vancouver, Canada where he was originally drawn to electronic music by the sounds of drum & bass.  After being turned on to the more minimal sounds of Maurizio and Klang, Todd recorded a number of tracks that were released by Swayzak’s 240 Volts label including ‘Greyscale for Slow Building’, ‘Nails’ and the ‘Busting Down the Door With a Shotgun’ EP.  In 2004 he and Mathew Jonson formed Wagon Repair, a label famed for the highest level of quality control in terms of both its music and artwork.  Konrad Black’s first released the critically acclaimed ‘Draconia’ on the label, following it up with the classic ‘Medusa’s Smile’, which was a fixture at the front of the boxes of the likes of Richie Hawtin, Steve Bug and Ricardo Villalobos.  He’s gone on to release his own tracks and remixes on Minus, Crosstown Rebels, Get Physical and Simple, some of the finest labels in house and techno right now.  His DJ schedule is awash with the best clubs in Europe and the world – a man in demand, and not without good reason.
