Late of the Pier are a bunch of eccentric young musicians whose musical style is as curiously wonderful as their sense of humour. Hailing from ‘home of rock’ Castle Donington, Nottingham, they received the Erol Alkan stamp of approval when he remixed their second single ‘Bathroom Gurgle’. Combining the raw energy of guitars with the power of a good bassline is not a new idea, but Late of the Pier seem to manage to straddle the indie-dance divide with such panache that they stand head and shoulders above most of their contemporaries. Considering they formed the band when they were still doing their GCSE’s with a bunch of old equipment belonging to one of their Dads - they’ve come a long way! If there’s a band able to shine through the NME hype and come out the other side – these guys might be it.
