From one of the hottest young rising talents on the scene to household name, Nic Fanciulli cut his teeth as resident at Maidstone’s Club Class aged just twenty. Having worked in record shops from the ages of 16 and paid his dues playing the usual round of bars in the area, he badgered the promoter with mix tapes until he booked him as a main room resident. There is no better way to prove your worth behind the decks than to get yourself known as an excellent resident DJ, and it wasn’t long before Nic’s techy grooves and acid jackin’ beats got him noticed by many of the big name guests such as Deep Dish and X-Press 2.
It wasn’t long before Nic snapped up residencies at some of the major London clubs, as well as Space in Ibiza and Miami, plus gigs at some of the best summer festivals including the Radio 1 stage at Glastonbury and Homelands.
It’s was when Nic’s production work stepped up a gear that people really started taking notice. Under his own name he has remixed artists such as Groove Armada, Deep Dish, Unkle and Francois Dubois. Along with Andy Chatterly, Nic also records under two highly successful monikers – Skylark and Buick Project. Together they have sprinkled their house magic over Kylie, Underworld, Tiefschwarz, and even Tears For Fears – their remix of ‘Shout’ becoming an Ibiza anthem in 2004.
In 2007 Nic teamed up with James Zabelia as One + One, and the two went head to head playing back to back on a round the world tour and releasing a joint studio mix featuring productions and collaborations from both of them. Despite, or perhaps because of, coming from slightly different musical directions, the pairing worked like magic – with their combined musical experience and four hands instead of two, the project was a great success.
We thought we’d better get hold of this one before he got away…so he joins The End in as resident at Atomic – a brand new night for 2008.
