Biography

With a music obsession that was already in full swing by the age of 8, it was clear that Paul Woolford was destined for a career in music. A visit to Dave Beer’s Back to Basics at the age of 17 opened his eyes to what he wanted to do – now he is a Basics resident, in between touring the world for international DJ gigs. He released his first track, a collaboration with Tony Senghore, at the age of 21, and the pair went on to produce several more 12”s and an album. He then began recording as Bobby Peru for 2020 Vision, releasing his first solo debut artist album ‘Death of a Player’ in 2000, to rave reviews. Collaborations with Yousef for the excellent Junior label followed, plus releases on Underwater, C2 and Subliminal – with his ‘Erotic Discourse’ becoming an underground classic. His DJing style is broadly house music, taking in techno, electro, breaks and more. Equally committed to his producing and his DJing, he excels in both, and is one of the most versatile and talented figures on the scene.
