Biography

Plump DJs are breakbeat royalty. Consisting of Lee Rous and Andy Gardner, they’ve been part of the scene since its inception. Lee was promoting a night, Freshly Breaked, booking the likes of Ali B, The Freestylers and Tayo, and it was through the night that he hooked up with Andy, booking him under his Cut n Paste guise. They remixed a couple of tracks together under the name Plump DJs, then took some original tracks to Fingerlickin’ Records, and it all kicked off! As their releases developed they begun to gather steam, and by 2000 they’d released their debut artist album, ‘A Plump Night Out’ which set new standards within the breakbeat scene. By 2003 they’d followed that up with their second artist album ‘Eargasm’ and an instalment of the ‘Fabric: Live’ mix series, both of which have gone down in breaks legend. The ‘Eargasm’ name inspired the title of their long standing residency at London’s Fabric, a night that is a firm fixture in the calendar of every self-respecting breaks fan and has helped them retain their position firmly at the head of the scene. In breaks they really don’t come much bigger than the Plumps.
