DJ Profile
Simon Bassline Smith
Simon "Bassline" Smith started DJing in the early 90s and immediately made an impression. Before long he was spinning at all the biggest raves in the burgeoning jungle scene and had launched his own label, Absolute 2. Absolute 2 was a launch pad for the production careers of such luminaries as Doc Scott, Nookie and Ray Keith. By the late 90s Smith was an established force with several releases under his belt on Absolute 2 and Good Looking, but it was in 1998 when his paths crossed with Drumsound that his production career really took off. They formed Technique Recordings, a new label for their joint production work which established them as one of the scene's most prolific and talented partnerships. However, in 2004, they unleashed 'Odyssey' on Grooverider's Prototype imprint, this track caused devastation worldwide and remains one of the biggest anthems of the decade, consolidating them as one of the scene's most in-demand production outfits. The years since have seen them release on the likes of Bingo, Liquid V, Creative Source, Shogun Audio and Ganja, and their relentless release schedule shows no signs of letting up! Chances are you've seen Bassline Smith DJ at The End before, if you haven't, you've definitely danced like a lunatic to one of his tunes!
