DJ Profile
Tayo
Tayo is breaks royalty. Beginning his career as a journalist, he began to make a name for himself as a DJ within the drum & bass scene, however, whilst working at Soul Jazz Records in Soho he met a man named Rennie Pilgrem and begun to develop an interest in the emerging breakbeat sound. Rennie, Adam Freeland and Tayo launched a night together called Friction at Bar Rumba which sparked an interest in Tayo throughout the scene. Before long Tayo had set up his own label, Mobb Records, for which A&R became his principal responsibility. The label developed into one of the scene’s heavyweights with a catalogue that boasts music from Stanton Warriors, Rennie Pilgrem, Tayo himself and even the Plump DJs first ever mix CD. After leaving the label, Tayo developed his dub infused breaks and dubstep sound and has released on Fat!, Mantra Breaks, Functional and Skint. He remains one of the scene’s biggest characters and biggest talents, and with an artist album in the works he looks set to stay on top of his game.
