The Long Blondes

Indie/Alternative

Biography

Hailing from Sheffield, 5 piece art-rock group The Long Blondes have gone from unknowns to household name in what seems a relatively short period of time. The band came together in a fairly random fashion, with various members claiming to have met in charity shops, libraries and at club nights. With a sound influenced by Pulp (former Pulp bassist Steve Mackey produced their debut album), The Ramones, Buzzcocks, and with a hint of Deborah Harry or Elastica to Kate Jackson’s vocals, the Long Blondes melodic, upbeat sound is a breath of fresh air. At the end of the 2007 they started working with Erol Alkan on their second album. A supporter of the band since the beginning, Erol booked them to play at his seminal Trash party twice, and they also make appearances at Durrr.
