Biography

The Youngsters, aka Gilles Escoffier and Olivier Mateu, met in 1999 after individual forays into music production, and begun working on music for Gilles’ label G-Funk.  Their Detroit-inspired early work on G-Funk saw such classics as ‘In Charly We Trust’ and ‘A Different Theory EP’, all of which and more was worked into their energetic live shows.  After meeting Laurent Garnier in 2000 they sign with his label F-Communications, the most well respected electronic label in France at the time.  They begin working on new projects, taking a new musical direction into a more downtempo sound that found a massive audience worldwide.  Following two classic artist albums on F-Comm, The Youngsters remain a highly respected production outfit, and recently had their first release in some years outside the confines of the F-Comm camp, a 12” on 2020 Vision.  Their mesmeric live show in the main room at the F-Comm party of 2002, alongside Laurent Garnier in the main room, remains a truly legendary night here at The End.
