Thomas Schumacher started his music obsession at an early age, when he went to a Depeche Mode concert and was blown away by the band and all their synthesisers, so he went straight out and bought himself a second hand one. When he first started DJing and producing he was into industrial and electronic punk music, but a visit to Frankfurt clubbing institution the Dorian Gray changed all that. He started making and playing techno, and it’s the acidic funked-up techno sound he has become best known for – perfectly epitomised by tracks such as ‘When I Rock’. These days, although he still has one foot firmly in the techno camp he’s diversified his sounds even further with projects such as live band Elektrochemie (signed to Get Physical) with his wife Caitlin Devlin.
