DJ Profile
Tiefschwarz
Brothers Ali and Basti Schwarz made their first forays into the world of dance music organising parties – at first in their own flat, and then as their place couldn’t contain the madness any more, subsequently branching out into running their own club nights – usually with off the wall themes and a general atmosphere of hedonism and complete abandon. In 1996 they hooked up with producer Peter Hoff in Stuttgart, and released their first single ‘Music’, which was so well received they were inspired to start working on their debut album ‘Ral 9005’, which ended up being picked up by the brilliant Classic Recordings label. Throughout the noughties their profile just continued to grow, and they were at the forefront of the wave of electro influenced sounds that had started to appear on dancefloors at that time. As well as smashing up clubs with their own productions, such as ‘Misch Masch’ and ‘Issst’, they became highly in demand as remixers, providing reworkings of tracks from artists such as The Rapture, Cassius, Spektrum and DJ Hell. In 2006 the brothers launched their own label ‘Souvenir’, releasing their own tracks alongside music by artists such as Phonique, Riton and Tom Mangan. Over a decade since they began, the brothers are still at the top of their game, producing stand-out tracks such as ‘Damage’ with Tracey Thorn, and continuing to tour clubs and festivals around the world.
