Around the turn of the millennium, Fabio discovered a young producer from Belfast, Dominick Martin, also known as Calibre.  Through his Creative Source label, Fabio was pioneering a style of drum & bass that what was quickly becoming known as liquid funk.  It was with the emergence of Calibre that this scene really kicked off, with his 2001 album ‘Musique Concrete’ on Creative Source a blueprint for so many producers over the years that followed.  Soon after, Calibre joined up with Marcus Intalex and ST Files to work on tracks for their label, Soul:R, and became something of a dream team in the music side of d&b.  His tracks on the label, such as ‘Fire and Water’, and collaborative efforts with MIST, as Mist:i:cal, such as ‘Mist:i:cal Dub’ are stand alone classics of the genre.  In 2003 he launched his own label, Signature Records, almost exclusively for his own music, a label that has since maintained high standards.  Signature was also home to his second solo album, 2005’s ‘Second Sun’.  2007 meanwhile saw him release two LPs, one a collaborative effort as Mist:i:cal, ‘The Eleventh Hour’ on Soul:R, followed by ‘Shelflife’ on his own imprint, an album of unreleased gems that were previously confined to his goldmine vault of previously unavailable classics.  A supreme talent, the elusive Calibre can from time to time be found DJing here at The End, for the likes of DJ Marky & Friends or Swerve - given the opportunity don’t miss the chance to catch a Calibre set.
