DJ Flight is regularly tagged with the title ‘first lady of drum & bass’, but her achievements in the scene transcend any notion of genre.  Starting her career in the late 90s, things really began to kick off for her when she scored a residency at Metalheadz in 1999 and then added a residency at Swerve in 2000.  When the BBC launched 1Xtra, Radio 1’s sister station devoted to black music, Flight was part of the drum & bass team, hosting her own weekly show.  She produces alongside Breakage, under the name Alias, and has had releases on Critical Recordings, Bassbin and 31 Records.  In 2005 she launched her own label and agency, Play:musik and Play:agency, and on the label has so far released quality music from Martyn, Heist, Visionary and Survival.  Flight remains a Swerve resident and can be found regularly here on a Wednesday night doing her thing.
