Biography

Luke Solomon's involvement in the music industry began in 1992 when he was hired to buy dance tracks for an old soul record shop in North London. Not content with toiling away in a retail position, he soon formed a recording partnership with his co-worker Ty Holden and started picking up remix work for a variety of labels. Meanwhile Luke's DJing career was taking off after a humble start DJing at his university in Middlesex. By 1995 he was a resident DJ on the now legendary pirate radio station 'Girls FM' where he met his partner in crime, Kenny Hawkes.

Not content with producing and DJing, Luke Solomon then began to set up his own labels, including the Classic Music Company, with Chicago don Derrick Carter. In 1999 he founded the Music For Freaks label, set up to release tracks produced with Justin Harris in their Freaks guise. He continued with his own productions at the same time, releasing music on a variety of labels from Crosstown Rebels to Cajual.

This brings us to present day. Luke decided to take a step back from the record label business and began to focus on production. Freaks took their 5 piece band on the road, and signed their classic track 'The Creeps', to the Ministry of Sound, which was taken up by everyone from Radio 1 to Lynx. Luke is also working with Rekids on a new solo album called 'Difference Engine' which features a multitude of musicians including Robert Owens, Derrick Carter, Earl Gateshead and more. Luke Solomon - the busiest man in dance music? Very possibly!
