Martin Buttrich is a producer’s secret weapon – although perhaps he’s not so secret any more. Too may times to mention you’ll be listening to a track, thinking how great it is, only to find out that it’s co-produced or remixed by Martin Buttrich. Aside from writing over 100 tracks with Timo Maas, he’s produced Tori Amos, Kelis and Finlay Quay, works closely with Loco Dice, and created the definitive mix of Tracy Thorn’s heart wrencher ‘It’s All True’. His discography is long and diverse enough to give even the most ardent trainspotter a headache. Recently he’s been releasing more tracks under his own name, on labels such as Poker Flat, Four Twenty and Planet E. Artists are queuing up to take a bit of the Buttrich gold – but this quiet, unassuming German producer, who has notably chosen to avoid any media hype, doesn’t seem to let it go to his head. If any producer could be said to have the Midas touch, this is he. Expect to hear more and more of him in the future – although you may not even know it…
