Simian Mobile Disco consists of James Ford and Jas Shaw who started out as part of the band Simian, alongside Simon Lord and Alex MacNaughten.  Whilst on tour, James and Jas would regularly go and play DJ sets under the tongue-in-cheek moniker Simian Mobile Disco.  After splitting with the band, and following the success of the Justice remix of Simian’s ‘Never Be Alone’, the boys decided to go all out on the SMD projects, as DJs, producers and remixers of thumping electronic party music that combined elements of dance and indie music, giving them a foot in both camps.  They begun to release tracks on ultra hip French label Kitsuné, remix some very exciting acts such as Björk, CSS and The Go Team, whilst James Ford added further distinction to the duo’s growing reputation by producing albums for Mystery Jets, Klaxons and Arctic Monkeys.  Their tunes began to grow more and more popular with the dance floor anthem of 2006, ‘Hustler’, coming straight out of the SMD studio.  As the popularity of their tunes grew, so did that of their DJ sets, with the guys headlining everywhere from NME Club Tours to the main rooms at The End and Fabric.  Before long Wichita, home of Bloc Party, offered Simian Mobile Disco an album deal and the result was ‘Attack Decay Sustain Release’, one of the most compelling albums of 2007.  They are regulars at Bugged Out! here at The End, and have even been known to drop the theme from ‘Willy Wonka’ so if you’re lucky enough to catch them here again, prepare to dance yourself silly.
